BSA Disaster Recovery and Rebuilding Advice

BSA assists Queensland communities recover from natural disasters by providing technical and general advice on a wide range of rebuilding issues. This site is aimed at providing advice should you have been involved in a natural disaster such as a flood, bushfire, cylcone or severe storm.
                                                           
BSA has developed a number of fact sheets and publications to assist home and business owners and contractors recover from natural disasters.                                                           

This site also provides a search facility for anyone wanting to locate a contractor following a disaster. 

Find a local contractor

BSA now has the “Find a Local Contractor” facility on our website where BSA licensees can register themselves and consumers or other contractors can locate a licensee within a specific area.

Any inquiries from other contractors not regulated by BSA such as Electricians, Asbestos removalists or demolishers should be referred to their own regulatory bodies such as Electrical Safety Office for electricians and Workplace Health & Safety for asbestos and demolition .  BSA has no history or information about these contractors and therefore we cannot include them in our ‘Find a Local Contractor” system.

New Demolition Contract

BSA has developed a new 2 page contract designed to enable homeowners and demolition contractors to conveniently record their arrangements for the demolition of a residential premises.  While it may be used for any home demolition, it is hoped that this new document will be particularly useful for work necessitated by flood and cyclone damage.

The new contract has a brief and straightfoward format which fairly balances the interests of homeowners and contractors.

New BSA Natural Disaster Repairs Contract

BSA has developed a new Contract Pack designed to enable homeowners and contractors to conveniently record their arrangements for the repair of a home, duplex or home unit in the wake of a natural disaster such as the recent severe floods and cyclone.

The new contract, which should not be used for routine repairs or full home construction, has a brief and straightforward format which fairly balances the interests of homeowners and contractors.  Click here to download the contract pack.
